For Murder Press 3 review by John Dean

The emergence of a new crime writer is always welcome and the arrival on the scene of P M A Hayes is no exception. There’s much to admire in For Murder Press 3, an intriguing story with plenty of twists and a cast of characters that all have secrets to protect in the very best crime fiction tradition.

The author’s debut novel introduces us to Benedict Aberthorp, a private detective more used to handling divorce case inquiries than murder. However, when he is called in to investigate a murder, he sets to with gusto, assisted by a keen sense of observation, a nice line in dialogue and a dogged persistence to get to the truth, however many people might try to stop him

The story is written with plenty of pace, the characters are well developed by the author so that we feel we know them, the New Zealand landscape is drawn with affection and there are plenty of twists and turns in the plot to keep even the most demanding of readers happy. More, please!
